The Right Toothbrush: Does It Really Matter?

You brush every day, but do you use the right toothbrush? Not all brushes are created equal, and the wrong choice could harm your gums or leave plaque behind.

Dentists generally recommend soft-bristled toothbrushes, which clean effectively without damaging enamel or irritating gums. Electric toothbrushes, like Oral B, provide superior plaque removal compared to manual brushes, especially for people with braces or limited dexterity.

For people with gum recession or sensitivity, brushes like Care Brush for sensitivity or interdental brushes (I-pic) are highly recommended. Children should use smaller, child-friendly brushes such as Colgate Kids or Mira.

Bottom line: the right toothbrush helps prevent gum disease, cavities, and sensitivity—so don’t just pick any brush off the shelf.
